 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its links across the country.  The investigating agency has taken this action in the matter of terror funding and running the camp.  106 people have been arrested.  These include PFI National President OMS Salam and Delhi President Parvez Ahmed.


What Is PFI ?

       The Popular Front of India was formed on 22 November 2006 by the amalgamation of three Muslim organizations.  Among them came the National Democratic Front of Kerala, Karnataka Forum for Dignity and Manita Neeti Pasarai of Tamil Nadu.  PFI describes itself as a non-profit organizatio

       The organization does not give information about the number of members in PFI.  However, it claims that it has units in 20 states.  Initially, the headquarters of PFI was in Kozhikode, Kerala, but later it was shifted to Delhi.  OMA Salam is its President and EM Abdul Rahiman as Vice Presiden

       PFI also has its own uniform.  Every year on August 15, PFI organizes the Freedom Parade.  In 2013, the Kerala government banned this parade.  That is because the uniform of PFI has stars and emblems like the uniform of the police.


PFI Name also came in the murder of BJP leader.

       BJP Yuva Morcha district secretary Praveen Nettaru was murdered in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district on July 26. When Praveen was returning home after closing his shop, at around 9 pm, the miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon. It was revealed in the investigation that Praveen had shared a post in support of Kanhaiyalal of Udaipur. That's why he was attacked. The NIA also conducted raids in this case. There are also allegations of PFI being linked in Praveen's murder.

        Last year in March 2021, UP STF searched the office of PFI located in Shaheen Bagh. Before this, once more PFI office has been searched. The ED is probing alleged money laundering by the PFI and its role in the Delhi and UP riots over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).


Why action against PFI taken by NIA ?

        Under the guise of Karate Training Center in Nizamabad, training was being given to make youth terrorists. The story of action on PFI started two months back, when in the month of July, Telangana Police exposed the terror training module of PFI in Nizamabad.

         In Nizamabad, the police arrested four people, including a man who taught martial arts, and about 30 others were also identified, who were plotting to spread hatred and violence in the country. It was then told that the PFI workers were getting training in martial arts, kung fu. At the same time, they were also educated about the various sections of the law and how to avoid them. Investigation found that PFI suspects radicalized hundreds of youths by setting up training camps in Kurnool, Prakasam and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh and also trained them for violence.


What type of training programs PFI was running ?

       Hitting against terrorism, the National Investigation Agency conducted raids, then a big disclosure has come to light. 

     1) Under the guise of Karate Training Center, training was being given to make youth terrorists.Training was being given to put to death by means of knife, iron rod and sickle.

     2)During interrogation, Abdul Kadar told that a particular community was targeted in the training center and youth were instigated.  For this, youth of a particular religion were gathered and instigated against people of other religions.  Abdul Kader also told that a huge amount in cash was collected from people from all over the country every month in the form of donation.  Four other PFI leaders were arrested on the behest of Abdul Kader.


Where was PFI'S training centres ?

        In this case it has been revealed that Abdul Kader had prepared a training center on the roof of his house only at the behest of PFI leaders. In this training center, 5 days of terrorist training was given in different batches. For this, PFI used to give huge amount every month to Abdul Kader. Apart from giving arms training here, youth were also brainwashed through hate speech.


What type of pepople PFI targeted for training & who was involved in planning ?

      Minority Muslims, fakirs, poor, and indebted people were targeted for training. They were trained in stone pelting, knife to kill anyone, establishing Islamic rule in India, destabilizing the country and Sharia law. NIA has included 15 frontal organizations of PFI in the investigation. in which-

Is PFI'S motto is to Making India an Islamic State ?

       PFI has often been accused of conversion, but it denies it. However, in the 2017 India Today sting operation, Ahmed Sharif, one of the founding members of the PFI, confessed that his aim was to make India an Islamic State.

       When Sharif was asked whether the hidden motive of PFI and Satya Sarani (organization of PFI) is to make India an Islamic State? So on this he said, 'The whole world. Why only India? After making India an Islamic State, we will go to other countries.


Where does the money for PFI come from?

       In this sting operation, Sharif had also confessed that he had received funding of Rs 10 lakh in 5 years from Middle East countries. Sharif had confessed that PFI and Satya Sarani were funded by more than Rs 10 lakh from Middle East countries and this money came to him through hawala.

        In February 2021, the UP Police Task Force claimed that the PFI is funded by intelligence agencies of other countries. However, he did not name those countries.

       Earlier in January 2020, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also claimed after investigation that between 4 December 2019 and 6 January 2020, Rs 1.04 crore had come in 10 accounts linked to PFI. During this period, PFI had withdrawn Rs 1.34 crore from its accounts. After January 6, the protests against CAA intensified.


The script of 'Surgical Strike' on PFI was written in Amit Shah's meeting.

       It is being said that the script of this entire action was written in the meeting of Union Home Minister Amit Shah held on 29 August itself. During that time, Shah had called a high-level meeting in view of the activities of PFI.

      According to Reports top officials who attended the meeting on August 29 said that Shah wanted information about the PFI and its related activities. During that time, when the people present provided him with information, he distributed responsibilities to different agencies. Big action was planned against PFI, but it was also decided that agencies will do their homework first.

      During the meeting, many big officials including National Security Advisor, RAW, IB, NIA chief attended. Shah had made it clear that the entire cadre, funding and terror network of PFI has to be dismantled and a plan was drawn up to involve different agencies in it.


Role of ED

      After the August 29 meeting, the ED was given the responsibility of preparing preliminary reports on PFI funding, foreign aid and illegal transactions. Along with this, it was decided to prepare the state police also in the scheme. During this, those states were specially included, which were expressing concern about this organization and were facing their illegal activities daily.



Where and how PFI was raided by national investigation Agency ?


Several suspects were taken into custody from Kota and Baran

      There is also news of the detention of some suspicious people from Sangod town of Kota. At the same time, action was taken in Nayapura Raigar Basti located at Baran district headquarters of Kota division. NIA has detained a person named Sadiq Hussain from Baran. Sadiq Hussain is the district secretary of SDPI. The NIA team took Sadiq with them after interrogation in the SP office. Here too, the NIA carried out the action late at night. The reasons have not yet been disclosed by the NIA.


There is also a network of PFI in Ajmer district.

       PFI is also being told a big network in Ajmer district. This organization is active in Beawar and Sarwar of Ajmer. PFI workers raised slogans of 'Sir Tan Se Juda' in Beawar. But at present there is no information about NIA action in Ajmer district. According to sources, some people are definitely on the radar of security agencies. This action taken by the NIA at various locations in the state has created a stir.


ATS raid in Maharashtra

       Maharashtra ATS has also registered four separate cases against PFI. Maharashtra ATS raid is also going on in the entire state today, which includes Aurangabad, Beed, Parbhani Parv, Malegaon, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. According to the ATS, 20 people have been detained. Maulana Saifur Rahman has been detained from Malegaon. Saifur Rahman is the Nashik District President of PFI.

      Regarding this raid, PFI said, "We strongly oppose the misuse of central agencies by the fascist regime to suppress the voice of protest." At present, the round of arrest of PFI leaders and members is going on.


Raid on PFI office in Kolkata,Arrests were also made from Delhi and UP.

       People associated with PFI have been arrested from Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and Ghazipur. Apart from this, two people have been arrested from Indiranagar in Lucknow. Assam Police has also detained 9 people associated with PFI from the state. Raids have also been conducted in many districts including Madurai, Theni in Tamil Nadu. The Union Home Ministry is continuously monitoring the joint operation of ED, NIA and state police which started late at night. However, after the action on the people associated with PFI, there have been protests by SDPI and PFI workers in Bengaluru and Mangaluru.


Earlier on September 18, NIA raided 23 places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 

       These raids were also done in the case of running a training camp of the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) in the name of Karate Training Center. The NIA had conducted raids in Nizamabad, Kurnool, Guntur and Nellore districts. If sources are to be believed, the NIA raided the same places from where information about the operation of terrorist activities was received.
